How to Take the Guesswork Out of Baby Sleep with Ceddie Sleeps
Baby sleep can feel overwhelming fast. When should the next nap be? How long should it last? Is my baby overtired or undertired? Should bedtime move earlier? And are you ever actually supposed to wake a sleeping baby?
In this episode, I sit down with Frank and Amanda, local Erie parents and the creators of the Ceddie Sleeps app. With backgrounds in technology consulting and communications, they turned their own experience navigating sleep with their son, Cedric, into a tool designed to help other parents take some of the guesswork out of baby sleep.
Like so many first-time parents, Frank and Amanda found themselves tracking naps, calculating wake windows, watching for sleepy cues, and constantly wondering what their baby needed next. When sleep suddenly became more challenging around the four-month mark, they turned to articles, sleep apps, and AI for answers—but still felt like something was missing.
That experience eventually led Frank to build the first version of Ceddie Sleeps, an app designed to look at a baby's actual sleep patterns, individual needs, and what's happening that day to help parents make sense of what to do next.
Throughout our conversation, we talk about the mental load that comes with baby sleep and why it can be so difficult to know whether you're getting it right. Frank and Amanda share how Ceddie uses established sleep guidance alongside a baby's individual sleep history to create personalized schedules that can adjust as naps run long or short, sleep changes at daycare, babies get sick or start teething, and routines evolve.
We also talk about something many exhausted parents may not want to hear—sometimes you really do need to wake a sleeping baby! Frank and Amanda explain how daytime sleep can affect nighttime sleep, what they've learned through their own experience, and how recognizing patterns can help parents feel more confident in the decisions they're already making.
In this episode, we cover:
Why baby sleep can create such a big mental load for parents
What inspired Frank and Amanda to create Ceddie Sleeps
How Ceddie uses sleep data and AI to personalize sleep schedules
When waking a sleeping baby may actually make sense
How sleep schedules can adjust when daycare naps don't go as planned
Recognizing patterns in your baby's individual sleep needs
Navigating nap transitions as your baby grows
How the app helps explain the "why" behind its sleep suggestions
How Ceddie approaches privacy and the information parents enter into the app
When families may need additional support from a sleep professional
Frank and Amanda created Ceddie Sleeps during a season when they were exhausted parents looking for answers themselves. Their hope is that what they built can take some of the guesswork out of baby sleep and help other parents feel a little less overwhelmed and a little more confident about what their baby needs.
Whether you're navigating short naps, changing wake windows, daycare sleep, nap transitions, early mornings, or simply wondering when your baby should sleep next, this conversation offers a real-life look at the challenges of baby sleep and one local family's journey to create a tool that could make it a little easier.
This episode is your reminder that it can feel like you're doing something wrong—but babies change constantly, sleep changes with them, and parents are learning right alongside their little ones.
